Abstract:Hydrocarbon resources are rich in the Mahu Depression, northwestern part of Junggar Basin. Well Mahu 1 obtains a high hydrocarbon production from the target, Baikouquan group of Triassic. But Well Mahu 2, located in the up direction of Well Mahu1, was failed at the same sandstone. This shows that the control factors of hydrocarbon accumulation are very complex in this area. To explain the difference between these two wells, we use different cube attributes analysis provided by GeoEast interpretation sub-system for minor fault identification, reservoir prediction and hydrocarbon detection, which figures out the superimposed relationship between the sandstones, and identifies reservoir types and control factors of hydrocarbon accumulation. Our application results provide very important information for the future exploration.
