Abstract:Dolomite reservoirs are developed in the Lower Permian Qixia Formation in the Hechuan-Tongnan area of the Sichuan Basin. The reservoirs are ultra-thin (single-layer thickness of 1-7 m), and due to the rapid lithological change of the upper and lower strata, the seismic response characteristics are not obvious. Therefore, accurate prediction of the reservoir distribution is an urgent problem to be solved. This paper presents a new targeted method for reservoir prediction. Firstly, through sequence division and sub-layer comparison, it is determined that the Lower Permian dolomite reservoirs are mainly developed in the second member (Q2) of Qixia Formation. Secondly, the seismic response characteristics of reservoirs under different geological backgrounds are clarified through forward modeling. Finally, the distribution ranges of the dolomite reservoirs in the sub-members of Q2a and Q2b are predicted. The application results of the method in this paper to the prediction of ultra-thin reservoirs in the area show that the coincidence degree with the drilling results is 20% higher than that of reservoir prediction directly using seismic attributes and inversion methods. The deployed exploration wells have successfully drilled dolomite reservoirs and achieved high-yield gas flow.
