Abstract:The transitional zone between mid Sichuan and south Siehuan is one of important potential hydrocarbon-bearing areas in the Sichuan basin,The: dominant reservoir is mrarine carbonate formation,whose interval velocity is rather close to normal velocity at its depth.Law-velocity abnormality often oceears on psevYdo interval velccity section when pores,fractures and caves arc multitudionus or fill with gas.The low-velocity abnormalities in different formations usually differ in degree.The degrees of low-velocity abnormaities in different formations favour ascer-taming formation interface.crosional surface,lithology,rock fades,fault,fracture,bioherm and hydrocarbon-bearing conditions. The transitional zone between mid Sichuan and south Sichuan was carefully analysed using full and accuratc pseudo interval velocity sections in wmbination with drilling data and other geophysical data.Good results in hydrocarbon prediction have been obtained.
